Cyclones make history with back-to-back titles and national honors in 2025
This season was brimming with success for Moraine Valley Community College women’s cross country. Between a championship, top finishes and awards, it was a season for the record books.
Zimmerman earns All-American as Cyclones brave snow and mud for top-25 finish at nationals
A slippery, snowy 5K course was no match for the Cyclones as they raced to a 25th place finish out of 44 teams at the NJCAA Division II Cross Country Championship in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Back-to-back Region 4 champs!
Not only did the Cyclones win back-to-back titles at the NJCAA Region 4 Championship but they also had the first runner, male or female, to win Region 4 Runner of the Year since 1989.
Full team gearing up for regionals
In one of their biggest races of the season, the Cyclones ran a full team to finish 19th out of 21 college and university teams with four runners earning PRs at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria.
Heat can't stop the running Cyclones
The heat was no one’s friend at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island. Times were slow overall for every participating college, and the Cyclones were able to run four as the only community college in the race.
Fast times at Gil Dodds Invite
Still down a few runners, the Cyclones raced three across the 6K course among four-year college and university teams at the Gil Dodds Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville.
More speed at Spartan Classic
With a couple of runners out, the Cyclones only ran three women at the Spartan Classic in Geneva, but they each had solid races.
Big debuts at Saints Twilight Invite
In their opening meet of the season, the Cyclones finished sixth out of nine teams and ahead of the other community colleges at the Saints Twilight Invitational in Channahon.
New faces, same fire: Cyclones women’s cross country ready to rise again
The women’s cross country program has several championships to its name, and a squad of new and returning faces hopes to continue bringing success home.

When Mia Villa wasn’t attending classes or training with the cross country team this summer and fall, she was chasing after foul balls and cheering on her beloved White Sox as an official ball girl.
Cyclones exceed expectations in stellar season
Last season, the Cyclones started with one woman on the team. This year, the full team of seven recaptured both the conference and region championships, the latter in a stunning victory to earn a trip to nationals to end the season.
Gutsy run at nationals
In their biggest 5K race of the season on the largest stage, the Cyclones women’s cross country team continued to run with guts as they have all season. They finished 26th out of 41 teams at the NJCAA Division II Championship at Pole Green Park in Richmond, Virginia.
Region champs by one point over favorites; headed to nationals
When it mattered most, Cyclones women’s cross country ran their fastest race of the season, besting nationally ranked favorites Carl Sandburg College by one point for the NJCAA Region 4 Championship at Lockport High School.
Skyway champs once more
For the eighth time in 11 years, the Cyclones women’s cross country team has captured the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championship. They took first at the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course in Geneva, IL.
