Third among the big guns

Third among the big guns

Being the only community college in a competition is daunting, especially when the runners are racing their first 6K, but the Cyclones pulled off a third place finish among six teams at the Purdue Northwest Classic Cross Country Invitational.

Jumping from a 4K to 6K was a challenge, but Moraine Valley ran strong, led by sophomore Victoria Granz (20th, 27:17). Adali Haro (26th, 28:50), Jaime Funk (30th, 29:39), Nicole Pannitto (33rd, 30:42) and Yasmeen Abuhayyeh (38th, 33:17) completed the team effort.

"I feel they handled themselves well. There was much more separation in this race compared to last week, but that will change as they become more comfortable with the longer distance and racing with each other. We have two weeks until our next race so that gives us some extra time to work on pacing and to prepare for another 6K race," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas.
