Three runners earn their best times in latest meet

Three runners from the women's team each ran personal bests in the 6K at the Gil Dodds Invite at St. James Farm in Warrenville, IL.

Injury has sidelined different runners the last few meets, but the three who raced on Saturday held their own among 220 runners, largely from four-year colleges and universities.

Desiree Mendoza had her 6K debut, crossing first for the Cyclones in 25:46.10 in 85th place. "She ran so well considering she spent most of the last few weeks not running due to injury," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas. "She's only going to get stronger from here as she continues to adjust to collegiate racing."

Rylee Milenkovic ran over a minute faster than last meet and looked strong, finishing in 27:34.60 in 140th place. "I expect her to continue dropping times as she learns more about what she's capable of," Dimizas said.

Annabel Lipkie tied her PR from last year even while feeling under the weather, crossing the line in 28:33.70 in 160th. "When she's on her game, she's a crucial piece of our team," Dimizas said. "Next meet is looking like it can be another fast one, so we'll be ready for that."

The Cyclones race next at the Brissman-Lundeen Invite on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, IL.
