Wrobel PRs at Heartland meet

Even amid the heat, wind and injuries, Cyclone women's cross country was able to hold their own at their second meet of the season at Heartland Community College in Normal, IL, where freshman Olivia Wrobel earned a nearly two-minute personal best.

All the Cyclones were dealing with some kind of injury and knew they would have to grit out the race, which they did. The weather caused the entire field to be slower than the last meet, but Wrobel earned a 1 minute, 40 second personal best. This also was Jasmeene Guido's first race since she was out with an injury for the last one.

Wrobel crossed the line first for the Cyclones in 24:18 for 30th place. Guido (26:39, 45th) was next followed by Stephanie Tuscher (28:53, 51st) and Jaime Funk (30:07, 54th).

"I wasn't sure how Jasmeene would handle the run since she hasn't really had consistent training, but she did well and can build from this. Stephanie and Jaime were hurting the most, which I hate to see, but I can't fault their efforts. We only have two weeks until the conference championship race, so we'll do our best to get everyone there as healthy as possible," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas.
