A conference championship, winning record and a number of significant individual honors capped another successful Cyclone volleyball season that culminated in the NJCAA Region semifinals.
The battle was hard-fought, but the Cyclones suffered a 3-2 upset to Sauk Valley Community College in the NJCAA Region IV semifinals (20-25, 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 11-15).
While highlighting the sophomores in their last regular season home match tonight, the Cyclones were able to win the matchup with the talented Harper College Hawks in three (25-22, 25-13, 25-14).
The Cyclones suffered their first real losing streak at the Lincoln Land Community College Tournament, Oct. 18-19, going 0-for-4 against some of their toughest competition.
Good things come to those who wait. It may have taken a year to get to this point, but the Cyclones defeated the team that bested them for the 2018 conference championship, Waubonsee Community College, to bring home the coveted crown.
The Cyclones continued their winning ways, grabbing a sixth and seventh straight win during a tri-match with Bryant & Stratton College and Olive Harvey College.
