The Cyclones continued their quest for another region championship in the NJCAA Region 4 semifinals at Madison College against conference rival Morton College. Moraine Valley handily won 3-0.
The Cyclones started their playoff run at home with a match against Olive-Harvey College. Moraine Valley swept the Panthers in three: 25-19, 25-10, 25-21.
The Cyclones are gearing up for NJCAA Region 4 playoffs with a tri-match, where they handily defeated Spoon River College and nationally ranked Rock Valley College.
The Cyclones captured their second consecutive Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championship with a quick 3-0 (25-17, 15-15, 25-16) victory over Oakton Community College. They also recognized their sophomores.
The Cyclones headed west this weekend for the Des Moines Area Community College Tournament and faced tough competition against nationally ranked teams.
When the Cyclones really needed a win, they came through. They topped McHenry County College in three tough sets to take the lone top spot in conference.
With returners who won championships and competed at nationals combined with skilled newcomers, Cyclones volleyball is aiming to repeat last year’s successes.
