Rain and mud can't stop Cyclones

Rain and mud can't stop Cyclones

The Cyclones ran through rain and muck at the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, but came out with some solid times and an 18th place finish.

This was a messy meet and pitted the Cyclones against many NCAA Division schools, which made for a fast field. But Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas was happy with the performance by his runners.

"I'm proud with how the men competed. This meet gave the guys a chance to see some faster runners than they've been used to," he said. "Overall it was a good outing, and we now turn our attention to conference this week."

Jack Kajmowicz led the Cyclones again, finishing just over his PR while battling a cold. He crossed the line in 124th place out of 178 in 28:45.8. Andrew Sima stayed positive over a rough course and finished in 153rd in 30:26.5. Demario Angarita ran in 162nd in 32:17.8 for a two-minute PR. Noah Rigoni-Kreczmer is battling an injury but finished his second race of the season in 172nd in 35:33.0. Robert Slezak also continues to improve and earned a PR as well, finishing in 173rd in 35:48.6.

The Cyclones will host the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championship on campus on Saturday, Oct. 21 with the men starting at noon.
