Personal bests all around at Bradley Pink Classic

The Cyclones came out to the Bradley Pink Classic in impressive form with every runner earning a personal best while finishing in 13th place out of 17 teams.

The men are ranked No. 24 in Division II, putting their speed on display at this race, where all teams that placed ahead of them were from NCAA Division I colleges. They defeated College of DuPage, which is ranked No. 2 in NJCAA Division III, as well as Harper, Valparaiso and Illinois State University's club team.

Leading the charge was Brandon Armendarez, who finished in 83rd place in 27:21, becoming the seventh fastest male runner at Moraine Valley in the 8K distance. Crossing the line after him was Jackson Sima in 119th place in 28:39, Juan Ramos in 134th in 29:00, Gavin Hampton in 140th in 29:15, Jimmy Duffy in 148th in 29:34, Scott Beveridge in 162nd in 30:30, Ryan O'Connor in 168th in 31:21 and Nicholas Cunico in 184th in 32:55.

"They all PR'd, which is always great to see. We knew that they were going up against a lot of good DI runners, and the goal was to compete with everyone. They did that individually and as a team. Brandon had a historic performance and ran the kind of time we've been hoping for. The pack behind him keeps getting better and better, which will be the key to any success we have in two weeks," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas.

The Cyclones have their biggest final regular season race of the year — NJCAA Region IV/Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championships — on Oct. 30.
