Making some noise at Gil Dodds

Making some noise at Gil Dodds

Among a field of 17 colleges, the Cyclones were the lone NJCAA team to compete in the Gil Dodds Invitational at Wheaton College. The men took 14th place.

This was the most competitive meet the men have run all season, facing all NCAA Division III colleges. And made a statement with a more robust roster of runners.

Brandon Armendarez led the way in 28:00 (a personal best) to finish 79th out of 228 runners. Jackson Sima crossed the line next in 29:06 for 130th place. Thomas Diaz had a solid run in 29:41 and 151st. Juan Ramos was back in action, finishing in 30:20 for 161st place. Gavin Hampton crossed in 30:42 in 170th while Jimmy Duffy also returned, running 30:51 for 173rd. Scott Beveridge (31:42, 193rd) and Nicholas Cunico (33:35, 209th) also contributed.

"We tried not to start fast, but the guys got caught up in the large field and went out a little harder than I would have liked. There were a few PR's and some gutsy performances, which I'm happy with," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas. "It's another stepping stone toward the end of October. Juan and Jimmy made their season debuts after coming back from injuries, and they'll only get stronger from here. Our next race is in two weeks, and we should have the full roster racing by then."
