Cyclones bounce back to shut out Kougars

After a crushing overtime loss on Tuesday, the Cyclones bounced back with a 2-0 victory at home over Kishwaukee College.

The Kougars had some speed and put the pressure on early, but the Cyclones were determined not to lose another one at home. The Cyclones shot a few free kicks wide of the net while the Kougars nearly scored but entered halftime scoreless.

Three minutes into the second half, Giorgos Vallianatos (Sandburg) flew a pass to Michael Strama (Shepard), who put his team up 1-0. Nearly three minutes after that, the veteran dynamic duo of Colin Kroll and Fernando Barragan gave their team some insurance. Kroll sent the ball to Barragan, who got it past the keeper. That boost helped the Cyclones, but the Kougars came close to getting on the board near the 21-minute mark when they put the ball past a diving Sebastian Montesinos (Thornton Fractional North), however, it was called offsides. The Cyclones were able to hold on to the 2-0 win.
