Among some of the toughest competition they have seen at any point, the Cyclones faced off at the NJCAA Region 4 Championship, April 27-29, at the PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, Illinois. They finished 9th overall out of 12 teams.
For the entirety of the tournament, the Cyclones were able to stay strong in the nine spot where the finished.
"The course was playing really hard, and it was a surprisingly high winning score," said Head Coach Matt Lovelace. "It was so hard the first day that they moved all the tees up for the rest of the tournament. We also had 40 mph winds the last two days."
Casey Taylor led the way for the Cyclones, finishing 23rd (85, 77, 80) followed by Matthew Pawyza in 35th (85, 84, 78), Ryan Flynders in 44th (88, 88, 90) and Sebastian Rak in 45th (91, 93, 86).
"Tough conditions. The guys ran out of steam after three tough rounds but gave it all they had," Lovelace said. "They got better or stayed about the same, which is all I can ask for."
