Cyclones finish 8th at region finals

In the blink of an eye, Cyclone golf finished their season at the NJCAA Region IV Tournament at PrairieView Golf Club in Byron, IL. The team finished in eighth place out of 11 colleges.

In round one, there was a four-hour rain delay, which necessitated a shotgun start instead of tee times. Although not an ideal situation, this assured all golfers would finish. Despite this change and soggy course conditions, the Cyclones played well. Most of the team shot in the low 80s, which most likely would have been in the 70s if not for the longer than expected day at the course, said Head Coach Matt Lovelace.

Round two was solid. The course was still wet from all the rain, which saw the golfers dealing with many mud balls. Some overall leaders from the previous day had a rough outing, going up 11 shots from the day before because of the conditions.

The final round saw more consistent shots despite the Cyclones' attempt to go lower. "It was frustrating, but we had a really good run," Lovelace said. "We could always have done better, but golf is hard and doesn't always go your way. But the guys fought hard in this tournament, and we had a great season."
