Four Cyclones earn honors after securing second in Skyway

In their final Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference match of the season at Ruffled Feathers in Lemont, the Cyclones took home a second place finish for the day and overall in conference with four golfers earning honors.

All season the Cyclones have consistently finished in second place to the talented College of Lake County Lancers in conference play. This day was no different. In the final Skyway standings, they earned the runners-up position.

Not only did the Cyclones have perfect weather, but several golfers stepped up to get the medal around their necks. Randy Miller and Michael Smeraldo played especially well, with Miller moving from around 10th place to a final sixth place finish thanks to a strong round. Miller led the team with a 79 while Smeraldo had 82 and earned seventh place. Tommy Schaaf finished the day with a 92 for eighth All-Conference while Jack McDonald shot a 91 for ninth All-Conference. Noah Holstrom rounded out the team total with an 89 and Ryan Krell had a 95.

"Mike and Randy played great today. Our performance overall in conference was great. Any other year, we would have won conference, but Lake County had the top four guys and won. But we had a decent day, and I'm happy," said Head Coach Matt Lovelace.
