To open their season, the Cyclones headed to the Highland 36 on Aug. 20, where they finished 12th. The opening tournament was no simple feat as they played two 18-hole rounds of golf in one long day.

The Cyclones finished 12th among 15 talented teams, two strokes from 11th and five from 10th for a solid start. A couple of the freshmen led the way in their first college outing. Tommy Schaaf finished 38th place overall out of 73 golfers with 82 and 84. Mike Smeraldo came in next at 46th with 87 and 81 followed by Randy Miller (58th with 84 and 92), Jack McDonald (61st with 91 and 87) and Noah Holstrom (67th with 99 and 86). They start Skyway Conference play on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Waubonsee Community College.
