In a one-off with the nationally ranked Parkland College Cobras, the Cyclones held their own in the 17-9 loss.
The Cyclones had 11 hits, just one short of the Cobras. They even held the Cobras to zero runs in their first at-bat and took a 1-0 lead after Andrew Phelan (1-for-3) doubled and scored on a sac fly from Alejandro Munoz (2-for-4, 3 RBIs).
By the third inning the Cyclones were down 6-4 but tied things up when Nicholas Haran singled and Mateo Velazquez walked before Christian Rosales (3-for-4, 3 RBIs) scored them both on a line drive to left field.
Down 12-6 in the fourth inning, Ryder Johnson (1-for-3 2 RBIs) walked and Phelan bunted and reached on a fielding error before Caston Norris grounded out, but not before scoring one run. Phelan scored on a ground out from Munoz.
In their final at-bat, the Cyclones added another run when Munoz hit an RBI single. From the mound, Nathan Bucio started the game strong, striking out three.
