A home split with the Panthers

A home split with the Panthers

Last-inning hits helped the Cyclones secure a win and split with the visiting Olive-Harvey College Panthers.

GAME ONE
The Cyclones earned all their runs in the bottom of the third with a little help from the Panthers. Andrew Phelan (1-for-4) started that inning with a single before Timothy O'Connell (1-for-2, 2B) was hit by a pitch. Troy Vosburgh flew out to center field, but was able to score one. The Panthers had a balk and fielding error to score the second run in the Cyclones' 7-2 loss. Moraine Valley had five hits in this game.

GAME TWO
After the Panthers scored their two runs in the first inning, the Cyclones held them until the end, tying the score in the sixth and earning the go-ahead run in the seventh for the 3-2 victory.

Some well-placed hits gave the Panthers an early lead, but both teams put the breaks on the offense after that. However, the Cyclones came alive in the bottom of the sixth. Caston Norris (2-for-3, RBI) and Phelan (1-for-3) each started the inning with a single allowing Mateo Velazquez (1-for-2, RBI) to drive one run home on a hard grounder to left field. Aiden Radtke (1-for-2) was intentionally walked to put runners on first and second. Lucas Hicks hit into a double play but not before Phelan crossed the plate to tie the score 2-2.

In their next at-bat, Joshua Keller and Robert Kutt were each walked before Norris hit a single to drive home the winning run. Christian Rosales was the winning pitchers, striking out five over seven innings.
