Splitsville

Nothing can keep the Cyclones down. After suffering a tough loss in the first game, they bounced back in the second for a split with the visiting Kennedy-King College Statesmen.

GAME ONE
The Cyclone bats were tame against Kennedy-King, accumulating just four hits to the Statesmen's 12. Up until a five-run seventh inning, the Cyclones were in this game. The Cyclones first scored in the fourth after Ryder Johnson (1-for-4, RBI) and Christian Rosales (2-for-4, RBI) singled. Some stolen bases and a sac fly from Timothy O'Connell (1-for-1, RBI) scored three runs.

In their final at-bat, Aiden Radtke and Seth McWilliams were hit by a pitch, and Preston Lund was walked to load the bases. Rosales hit an RBI single to drive the final run in for the Cyclones as they lost 8-4.

GAME TWO
The nightcap was another story for the Cyclones as the bats came alive in a 12-3 rout of the Statesmen.

Although Kennedy-King held a 2-1 lead going into the fourth, the Cyclones went on a tear at the plate, scoring 10 in two innings. Jaylun Armstrong (1-for-4) started off with a double followed by a double from John Labonte (1-for-3, RBI). A couple of fielding errors gave the Cyclones a 4-2 lead with two outs. Two walks and an RBI single by Joshua Keller (1-for-1, RBI) later saw Moraine Valley up 5-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, Nicholas Haran (3-for-4, RBI) started off with a long homerun to left field. More fielding errors and batters hit by pitches plus singles from Andrew Phelan (2-for-3, RBI), Mateo Velazquez (2-for-3, RBI) and Caston Norris (1-for-1, 2 RBIs) saw the Cyclones go ahead 11-2. Statemen errors helped the Cyclones score their final run in the sixth while the Moraine Valley defense and pitching kept Kennedy-King at bay.

Rosales was the winning pitcher, striking out eight and walking one over six innings.
