Bats come alive in dominating victory

After being blanked at the plate for the first three inning with a deficit, the bats came alive in a dominating 17-2 victory over Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

Although Minnesota led 2-0 from the first inning, that was the last time any players touched home plate. The Cyclones offense turned up in the fourth inning and didn't stop. It started with singles from Robert Kutt (2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBIs) and John Labonte (2-for-3, 3 RBIs) before there were two outs. Alejandro Munoz (3-for-4, 2 2B, 3B, RBI) doubled to drive in Kutt, and Ryder Johnson (3-for-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBIs) hit an inside the park homerun to help the Cyclones take a 4-2 lead.

From that point on, pitching and defense kept Minnesota scoreless while the Cyclones offense heated up, aided by some Spartans errors. Lucas Hicks (2-for-5, 3B, RBI) rocked a triple in the fifth and was driven in by Nicholas Haran (1-for-4, RBI). A couple of fielding errors advanced the Cyclones on the bags before Labonte knocked in two runs on a single to left field to make it 7-2.

The Cyclones added three more runs in the sixth thanks to some fielding errors and walks. A seven-run eighth inning helped break the game open, however, capped by a two-run triple from Troy Vosburgh (1-for-5, 3B, 2 RBIs).

Jaylun Camper (2-for-5) and Armando Aguilar also each had an RBI in this game. Maddox Reta was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts, allowing just six hits.
