Ten runs not enough against Spartans

Ten runs not enough against Spartans

The Cyclones scored 10 runs in their doubleheader with Elgin Community College, but still dropped both on the road.

GAME 1
Moraine Valley scored all their runs in the fourth inning, losing the matchup 15-4.

Dimitri Spatharakis (1-for-3, RBI) scored the first run on an RBI single after Niko Mastoras (1-for-3) lined to get on base and Jack Hoh reached first on a fielding error. With two outs, Christian Cardenas was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Arnoldo Velazquez (1-for-2, 2 RBIs) singled to right field to score two more runs. Emmet Barry (1-for-1, RBI) scored the final run on a line drive to center.

GAME 2
Moraine Valley collected 12 hits in the second game, scoring half in the 15-6 loss.

It was just one rough first inning where the Spartans scored 11 runs before the Cyclones shut down their offense. Nick Haran (2-for-3, 4 RBIs) got his team on the board in the top of the third inning on a two-run homerun after Hoh (1-for-4, RBI) doubled. When the Spartans came up, John Dytrych (5 strikeouts, 2 walks) struck out two and forced another batter into a ground out for a quick at-bat. Jayden Armstrong (2-for-4) then started the inning for the Cyclones with a double, and Jaylun Camper (1-for-4, RBI) scored him on a double of his own. Kevin Golinski (1-for-2) walked and Cardenas (2-for-4) singled to load the bases for Hoh, who grounded out but still scored one. Haran hit a two-run double to give the Cyclones six runs.

The Spartans scored their final two runs in the bottom of the fourth, and the Cyclones were able to get a few more singles and doubles, but not enough to score any more.
