Late inning offense comes up just short

The Cyclones saw some late scoring in their one nine-inning game with Triton College, but they came up just short, losing 3-2.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Cyclone bats came alive after Austin Zernia was hit by a pitch. Christian Rosales (2-for-5) and Niko Mastoras (2-for-4) each singled to load the bases before Jack Hoh (2-for-5, RBI) hit an RBI single. Christian Cardenas (1-for-4, RBI) tied the game 2-2 with another RBI single with two outs. However, the next Cyclone batter struck out to end the inning.

When the Trojans came up to bat next, the first batter walked and the Cyclones got two quick outs. However, the next batter hit the go-ahead run. With their last at-bats, the Cyclones got two on from a walk by Arnoldo Velazquez (1-for-4) and walk from Mastoras. But Hoh hit into a fielder's choice to end the inning and the game.
