The Cyclones put up a good fight with Kankakee Community College but came up just short in their one nine-inning matchup.

Moraine Valley started off strong as Christian Rosales (2-for-6), Niko Mastoras (2-for-5) and Dimitri Spatharakis (1-for-4) each singled to get on before Ethan Lopez (1-for-1, 3 RBIs) drove them all in with a triple to centerfield. They added another run in the fourth when Mastoras and Jack Hoh (2-for-4) had hits before Spatharakis reached base on a fielding error that scored a run to put the Cyclones up 4-2.

Things were quiet until the bottom of the fifth when the Cavaliers tied the game on hits and fielding errors. They had more luck the following inning with two outs, getting ahead of Moraine Valley 9-4 and later adding the final two runs with a walk and homerun.

However, the Cyclones attempted a comeback in the ninth inning. Hoh started with a single, Spatharakis walked and Christian Cardenas (2-for-4) singled to load the bases. Xavier Aguilar (2-for-5, 2 RBIs) brought home two runs with a hard single. Then Ayden Lasson (1-for-1, RBI) added one more with an RBI double. But that was all they could tack on in the 11-7 loss.

The Cyclones had 15 hits this game with at least one hit from nearly the entire lineup. Lopez, Aguilar and Lasson earned the runs. Dane McDonald started on the bump, throwing four strikeouts, allowing six earned runs. Ryan O'Shea was the closer, striking out two.
