Big hits for a big win

The Cyclones got another dub on the trip with a big 10-7 victory over Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

Moraine Valley outhit Minnesota 11-10 and had two big innings to give them the edge. They got on the board first with four runs in their first at bat. Christian Cardenas (3-for-5, 3 RBIs) and Kyle Diamantos (1-for-4, RBI) each singled before Dimitri Spatharakis (1-for-5, 2 RBIs) got a run in with a shot to center. Jayden Armstrong (2-for-4, RBI) was up to bat next and hit a hard grounder to score Diamantos. With two outs and Armstrong on third, he scored on a passed ball. Jaylun Camper was on base from a fielder's choice and stole home to get his team up 4-0.

Minnesota got on the board in the third and tied it in the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Daymian Arroyo (2-for-4) singled and scored on a single from Cardenas to go up 5-4. But the lead was short-lived as Minnesota had a few hits to get up 6-5. The Cyclones fought back in the sixth inning with singles from Emmet Barry (1-for-3) and Arroyo and fielding error that saw Kevin Golinski get on to load the bases. Augustus White (1-for-3, RBI) was hit by a pitch to force a run in and tie the game. Then Cardenas scored two more on a grounder to center field. Diamantos grounded out but was able to score White. Spatharakis lined out, but Cardenas was able to tag up to get the Cyclones a comfy 10-6 lead. Minnesota added only one more run in Moraine Valley's win.

Carlos Guzman was the starting pitcher, striking out seven and allowing four runs. Ryan O'Shea and Nomar Areizaga threw in relief with the latter getting the win.
