Split with Owls

Split with Owls

The Cyclones had a split day with Oakton Community College.

It was a good day for Danzel Lucas (1-for-3) who singled in two runs in the first inning and scored a run on a fielder's choice in the third. Maxwell Hensler (2-for-2) scored a run in the third with an RBI triple. The final Cyclone run was scored on a wild pitch when William Miller (2-for-2) scored. Daniel Rosado took the mound for the Cyclones allowing one run and striking out seven in the 5-1 victory.

Some late scoring by the Owls dealt the Cyclones a 10-7 loss in the nightcap as both teams collected eight hits each. Moraine Valley was ahead 5-4 in the top of the sixth when the Owls scored five runs to take the lead. The Cyclones fired up the offense in the first inning when Hensler (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) singled on the first pitch to score one. Gilberto Hernandez (1-for-4) shot a homerun in the third to get his team ahead 3-0. The Owls counted in the fourth to tie the game at three but the Cyclones retook the lead in the fifth when Jake Lisk (1-for-3) singled in a run, and Yashion Boswell (2-for-2, 3 RBIs) drove in one on a double to go up 5-4. Some errors and hits gave the Owls the edge in the sixth. The Cyclones tried to comeback in the seventh after Boswell hit a two-run double, but it wasn't enough. Ben Cash threw for the Cyclones, racking up eight strikeouts and allowing four earned runs.
