More runs means more wins

Cyclone offense could do no wrong today as they scored 25 runs collectively in their doubleheader with Prairie State College. They won 12-1 and 13-2.

Throughout game one, the Cyclones scattered eight hits. They opened scoring in the first inning when Patrick Hayes singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Maximus Bullock, Hayes and Christopher Villafuerte each managed two hits to lead the offense.

Brett Renken secured the victory off the mound. The righthander surrendered one run on two hits over five innings, striking out seven. Jace McWilliams threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

A big fourth inning in game two helped propel the Cyclones to their second consecutive win. Scott Richards got his team on the board in the second inning when he doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. The big frame saw seven runs knocked in by Alex Martinez, Hayes, Stephen Insley, Andrew Tenison, Jake Peterka and Villafuerte. Collectively, they racked up 11 hits. Anthony Cappelletti and Hayes each amassed three hits to lead the way.

Brendan Gill got the start, lasting six innings and allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six.
