Big-hitting day falls short

Despite racking up 10 hits, the Cyclones struggled to capitalize on baserunners in their 7-4 loss to Waubonsee Community College.

Moraine Valley held a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but a big three-run homerun from the Chiefs changed the flow of the game. The Cyclones could only manufacture one more run after that. Brenden Butler led the effort (3-for-5, 2 RBIs, 1 run, double). Gerald Powell (2-for-4, 1 RBI, 1 run) and Stephen Insley (1-for-4, 1 RBI) were the only other run producers. Timothy Dobrik and Ryan Czajowski took turns on the mound, each striking out four and allowing three earned runs.
