Cyclones stunted by Owls

Cyclones stunted by Owls

A roughed-up defense and stunted offense hurt the Cyclones as they were swept by conference rival Oakton Community College.

Just one inning was the culprit in the Cyclones first 13-3 loss. A few errors in the third inning allowed the Owls to collect nine runs. Brett Smith and Robert Keating took the beating on the mound. Only Gerald Powell, Antulio Esparza and Niles Gall were able to earn RBIs in this outing.

The Cyclones put up more of a fight in the second game, but the Owls got the better of them in the 7-4 loss. Powell was the offense star of this game, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and two runs. Phillip Hyland batted in the other run. Richie Kiernicki threw first for the Cyclones giving up six runs and striking out two. Jeremy Urdiales and Michael Dudek came in for relief.
