On Sophomore Night, the Cyclones made a steady comeback to defeat Kankakee Community College in four sets (22-25, 25-21, 25-13, 25-8).
The first set saw an uncharacteristically sluggish Cyclone team making mistakes that the Cavaliers capitalized on to take a quick lead. With a couple of big hitters, the Cavaliers gave the Cyclones a rare first-set loss. Moraine Valley found their rhythm in the second set, taking the lead thanks to some key moments and perfectly time tips from Keira Clancy. The Cyclones were able to grab an extended lead in the final two sets and benefited from mistakes by the Cavaliers. The fourth set saw some big blocks and kills from Cayla Neville to help solidify the win.
The sophomores put up some big numbers in this victory. Ava Pequette amassed 39 assists and 15 digs. Mary Zielinski collected 30 kills. Lily Avelar had 11 kills and 18 digs. Sophia Davidson had 25 digs, 25 service points and three aces. Cayla Neville finished with nine kills and two blocks while Cameron Szyszka had 16 digs.
