Heartbreaker at home

Heartbreaker at home

After asserting their dominance the last six weeks, the Cyclones were ready to faceoff with conference rival and fellow ranked team McHenry County College. Both teams wanted this victory, but it just came down to errors and final points that decided the victor after five long sets (21-25, 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 16-18) in a heartbreaker for the Cyclones.

The Scots came out strong, winning the first set 25-21. Moraine Valley bounced back, however to win the next two, 25-22, 25-21. The final two sets had each team taking a turn with the lead; the Scots would have the advantage before the Cyclones regained momentum. A few missteps by the Cyclones allowed the Scots to squeak by, however. The final set saw a few pivotal leads aided by Ava Pequette and Mary Zielinski, but it wasn't enough for the determined Scots.
