Holding their own in Peoria tri-match

Moraine Valley headed down to Illinois Central College in Peoria for a tri-match to face a couple of unfamiliar teams. They battled through several sets but dropped both matches.

The first team the Cyclones faced was Jefferson College for a 3-1 loss with some close sets (23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 16-25). Ava Porada accomplished something not common in volleyball – a triple double. She amassed 10 kills, 33 assists and 18 digs. Adding to the effort was Brooklyn Condon (nine kills, 23 digs), Gianna DiMundo (two aces) and Kaila Butvilas (11 kills, 17 digs).

The Cyclones held their own in the second match with nationally ranked Illinois Central, fighting through five sets (15-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-21, 16-18). Butvilas finished with 11 kills and 17 digs again. Porada had 47 assists, 21 digs and seven kills. Condon accumulated 28 digs and 13 kills while Ava Theoharis had 37 digs.
