Staying alive

Staying alive

The Cyclones kept their run at nationals alive today in an energetic and nail-biting five-set victory over Carl Sandburg College.

The two schools had first met this season in September with the Cyclones losing the battle in four. This time, however, they gave it their all for the victory: 18-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-13. Even after going down the first two sets, the Cyclones fought. Noelle Knezz (16 kills, eight blocks) was key in the last two sets, and Abbi Fletcher (29 digs, 10 kills) was all over the floor to get the ball. Taylor Bulow had 49 assists, Elizabeth Coffey tallied 13 kills while Karly Andersen blocked 10. As a team, the blocked 19. This was truly a team effort.

Their next game in the tournament is against No 9 seed North Dakota State College of Science.
