Cyclones conclude Skyway play with victory

The Cyclones concluded their Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference schedule today with a big 2-1 victory over Morton College.

They continued their trend this season of giving up a goal first and climbing back. However, shortly after the Panthers scored, Allison Schaar earned the equalizer with an assist from Jasmine Quezada. Halfway through the second half, Schaar was able to find the game winner with help again from Quezada. The Cyclones pressed defensively to hang on through the buzzer.

"Although we never really found our groove, we found a way to win, and there is no such thing as a bad win," said Head Coach Al Palar. "It was 1-1 at halftime, and I told them it's not going to be pretty soccer today, but we have to find a way to create more chances and grind out a win. That's what happened. I'm not too excited about the soccer we played, but happy we were able to grind this one out and find a way to win."

With this victory, the Cyclones have a guaranteed second place finish in conference. They'll have to wait until Skyway action continues for Oakton Community College and College of Lake County for a chance to split first place.
