In five years, the Cyclones have won 44 consecutive region games. That streak ended when they faced a formidable Bryant and Stratton College team ready to do some damage. They fell 2-1 in a rare loss.

Going into this matchup, Moraine Valley knew the Bobcats would be better than last year and a tough faceoff early in the season. The Cyclones started off strong but could not find the back of the net. They also are dealing with injuries and still working out the kinks. The Bobcats scored first early in the second half. The Cyclones equalized shortly after thanks to Jasmine Quezada and Sabrina Perez. Quezada hit a shot off the post that landed near Perez, who hit a shot from the top off the box to beat the goalie. Throughout the half, Moraine Valley had five to 10 clear scoring chances to go up 2-1, but was unable to capitalize. The Bobcats ended up looping a shot from 35 yards that went through keeper Jocelyn Estrada's hands with 10 minutes left, and that ended up being the difference. Within those last few minutes, Moraine Valley attacked consistently, but luck was not on their side.

"Obviously, it's very disappointing not to get the result we wanted in a region game like this. However, it's still very early, and everything is still left to play for. We just have to make sure we use this experience in a positive way going forward. I thought we did well to create many chances in attack, we just didn't have that killer mentality to finish our chances and put them away. I thought we played well defensively, too," said Head Coach Al Palar. "Bryant and Stratton has some very talented players with speed up top that I knew would cause us problems. We did what we wanted to do against them, it just didn't end up the way we wanted it to. The game could have gone either way, and for the first time in the region in five years it didn't go our way. That's okay though because it's not about how you start, it's about how you finish. I am fully confident in this group this year. We will all work hard to get back on top."
