Second straight shutout for Cyclones

Second straight shutout for Cyclones

More and more Cyclones are getting in on the action and scoring while holding the last three teams they faced to one goal. The most recent win came last night in a 9-0 shutout of Elgin Community College.

Even when they were up 4-0 at halftime, Coach Al Palar saw his crew playing with less energy and spirit than usual. At the half, he gave the Cyclones a pep talk that sparked them in the second half, where they scored five more. Maribel Carmona earned her second shutout of the year.

Jasmine Quezada and Yesenia Perez each scored twice while Brooke Janeczek, Veronika Stafira, Abby Tiemersma, Jennifer Warja and Anna Kois added one.

"In most cases, a coach would be pleased with a 4-0 lead at halftime. I was displeased with the way we came out and played. I let them know that at halftime. I'm so proud of the way they responded in the second half and the energy and intensity they had. I also love the fact that we have 12 different goal scorers already in just three games," said head Coach Al Palar.
