The 2023-24 season is Delwyn Jones’ 24th year as head coach of the Cyclone women’s basketball team. In November 2022, he was named an inductee in the 2023 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. In the 2021-22 season, he hit a milestone, earning his 400th career victory. During the 2019-20 season, he was inducted into the 2020 NJCAA Region IV Hall of Fame. In June 2016, he was inducted into the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Hall of Fame for his accomplishments. Jones has been named Skyway Conference Coach of the Year seven times: 2018-19, 2014-15, 2009-10, 2008-09, 2007-08, 2006-07 and 2003-04. He was NJCAA Region IV Coach of the Year in 2018-19 and 2016-17. He led the 2016-17 team to the NJCAA Division II Championship in Arkansas for the first time in his tenure and then a second time in the 2018-19 season, where they finished eighth in the nation.

As a four-sport athlete (football, basketball, baseball, and cross-country) at Luther South High School, Jones captained his basketball and baseball teams. He also received All-Conference honors in basketball and baseball, leading the Private School League in steals (baseball) as a junior. He is still active in recreational sports.

Jones, a Moraine Valley associate professor of Communications/Speech, received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Illinois University. He also is president of the Moraine Valley Faculty Association.
