
The Cyclones took a big 102-86 victory from Lincoln Trail College at the Dan Hull Memorial Classic hosted at Triton College.
In their first of two games, Moraine Valley jumped out early and led the entire first half. Their fast break was solid and Jadea Johnson and Shakila Brownlow were attacking the basket while Isabel Lopez continued knocking down three-pointers. This led to a 52-41 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, however, Lincoln Trail clawed back with a barrage of three-pointers, scoring 33 points to the Cyclones' 27. Eventually, Lincoln Trail took a 73-72 lead, but Moraine Valley answered and regained a double digit lead in the fourth quarter that they held on to until the buzzer.
Two players earned double-doubles. Johnson led with 34 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Brownlow added 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Lopez chipped in 16 points, including four three-pointers. Deniza Fuentes added 14 points and seven assists while Olivia Baxa sunk three three-pointers.
