Baxa earns Cyclone 3-point record in 2OT victory

Olivia Baxa and Robin Stevenson helped give their team the edge and the win in double overtime over the College of Lake County Lancers. Baxa also earned a Moraine Valley record.

This was no easy victory for the Cyclones on the road. They started with consistency on the court, leading for most of the first quarter. However, the Lancers wouldn't sit down, fighting back for a two-point lead at halftime. Neither team led by more than six at any point in this matchup.

Starting the third quarter, the Cyclones went on a 10-0 run to get ahead by four while the battled continued for the next 20 minutes. Baxa hit a three-pointer at the final buzzer to tie the game in regulation. It wasn't until the second overtime where Baxa and Stevenson hit key threes to help seal the 70-67 victory.

Baxa entered the Moraine Valley record books with seven three-pointers, going 7-for-12 (third best in Cyclones women's basketball history), along with a game high 24 points. Stevenson collected another double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds). Andrea Robertson dominated the paint with another 20-rebound game along with 11 blocks. After this game, she ranks No. 1 in NJCAA Division II for defensive rebounds (236), No. 3 for total rebounds (300) and No. 2 for blocks (97). For the second game against Lake County, Deniza Fuentes held the Lancers' leading scorer to single digit points.
