Big scoring yields Skyway win

Nearly every Cyclone scored double digits in their 90-65 win over Elgin Community College, their fourth Skyway Conference victory this season.

Although the Spartans scored first and held a brief lead, the Cyclones quickly earned a succession of fouls to take the lead that lasted all four quarters. Sarah Burton was pushing the offense in the first 10 minutes, scoring 14 of the 24 points.

The Spartans went on a run in the second quarter, coming within five, but the Cyclones were able to force turnovers and continue scoring. They led 44-32 at halftime and continued to control the game through the end.

Deniza Fuentes led the offense with 25 points while Burton tallied 18. Andrea Robertson earned another double-double with a second consecutive 20-rebound game along with 14 points. She also had five blocks. Robin Stevenson added 11 points and eight assists. Colleen Zarembski and Amari Cole each had 10 points.
