Another Skyway win

Another Skyway win

Although it took the first quarter to find their rhythm, the Cyclones led their matchup with Prairie State College and finished with an 80-68 victory at home.

Sarah Burton started the scoring for the Cyclones and helped build a slow lead for the team. Moraine Valley was up by 11 in the second quarter after Deniza Fuentes sunk a three-pointer. The Pioneers attempted a few comebacks in the first half, but the Cyclones were still up 38-28 at halftime.

The second half played out consistently as the Cyclones continued to hold a double-digit lead. With five minutes left in the game, the Pioneers had come within seven points. However, some monster rebounds from Andrea Robertson and baskets by Burton, Olivia Baxa and Robin Stevenson, gave the Cyclones a comfortable cushion to take the win.

Stevenson led the offense with 19 points. Baxa and Burton each added 17 points. Colleen Zarembski collected a double-double (12 rebounds, 11 points) while Robertson led under the basket with 20 rebounds and three blocks. After this game, Robertson leads the NJCAA Division II with 177 defensive rebounds.
