Cyclones get through round one

In the first round of the NJCAA Region IV Division II playoffs, the Cyclones (14-15) were able to grab an early lead and hold onto it for the win. They defeated Milwaukee Area Technical College (17-12) 57-45.

Scoring was a problem at the beginning for both teams as the Cyclones only led 9-3 at the end of one quarter. The scoring continued to move slow throughout the next 10 minutes with Moraine Valley holding the 20-10 lead at halftime.

The second half picked up for both teams, but the Stormers closed the gap to four. However, Moraine Valley turned up the scoring and Janiyah Hilliard put on the pressure to help them pull away in the fourth quarter. They led by as much as 15 points but eventually finished with the 12-point victory.

Aubree Schultz led the offense with 20 points. Autumn Jones added 10 points and eight rebounds. Andrea Robertson added 14 rebounds and six blocks. Hilliard contributed eight points, six rebounds but made a big impact with her defense and hustle.

The Cyclones continue their playoff run on Saturday, March 4 at 4 p.m. against Morton College.
