Cyclones have upper hand in final Skyway win

In their final Skyway Conference game of the season, the Cyclones (13-15) avenged an earlier loss to Prairie State College (10-19) by earning the 76-68 victory.

Last month when these two teams met, the Cyclones suffered a 13-point loss and were dominated by the Pioneers. This time around, they held the upper hand. Moraine Valley started out with a 20-2 lead but Prairie State continued to come back with every shot. By halftime, the Cyclones still held the 42-33 lead.

The Pioneers eventually tied the game at 59 at the end of the third quarter and at one point were up by six. However, Aubree Schultz hit several clutch shots, attacking the basket and helping her team get back. A short jump shot by Janiyah Hilliard and a three-pointer from Reagan Cameron helped the Cyclones get ahead. The lead grew to 10 points with four minutes left before the Cyclones closed it out, holding the Pioneers to just nine points in the fourth quarter.

Reagan Cameron finished with 30 points, going 5-for-10 from the three-point line. She passed the Moraine Valley record for most threes in a season, accumulating 84. The previous record was 81. Schultz followed with 21 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Hilliard added 14 points, 12 rebounds and all the hustle plays all game. Andrea Robertson contributed a game high 14 rebounds with two blocks.
