Offensive surge not enough in loss to Pioneers

Offensive surge not enough in loss to Pioneers

Despite an offensive surge in the second half, the Cyclones (10-10) were unable to surpass Prairie State College (7-15), losing the matchup 87-74.

The Cyclones struggled to make baskets in the first quarter while the Pioneers couldn't stop sinking three-pointers. Reagan Cameron led the offense with six points before Autumn Jones took over in the second quarter. By halftime, the spread was 43-28 with the Cyclones down. They had their best run in the third quarter when Aden Edebali and Jayla Lamb went on scoring tears, attacking the basket. Collectively, they scored 19 points out of 26 that quarter. Lamb and Andrea Robertson also put the pressure under the basket to grab more rebounds while holding the Pioneers to just 17 points. With that strong stretch, the Cyclones were able to get within six by the fourth quarter. However, the Cyclones' momentum dropped slightly in the final 10 minutes. Even with Edebali controlling the ball and scoring nine, the Pioneers were more consistent to deal the Cyclones a loss.

Edebali led scoring with 17 followed by Autumn Jones with 16 and Lamb with 13.
