Cyclones hang with Trojans

Going into their second to last game of the regular season, the Cyclones knew they had a tough battle ahead. The visiting Triton College Trojans only had three losses this season. Unintimidated, the Cyclones pushed, scrounged and narrowly lost 70-66 in the final minutes of the game.

This was the second time these two teams have met, the last time resulting in a 12-point loss. Although the Cyclones were down early, they put on the press in the second quarter, boosted by a few key three-pointers and solid defense, and held the Trojans to eight points against their 17. At halftime, the Cyclones were up by one. Some big buckets from Reagan Cameron kept her team right in step. It was just the final quarter where the Cyclones held the lead for nearly five minutes, and were up by as much as six before the Trojans went on a scoring run. With less than a minute, Cameron banked a three to get her team within three. But the Cyclones were unable to capitalize on a stolen ball and chance to score for the loss.

Cameron led the team with 23 points followed by Kirsten Kamholz with 12. Katchie Savic had control under the basket with nine rebounds along with nine assists and three steals.
