Cyclones fall to No. 1 Lakers

With three starters out while facing the No. 1 nationally ranked Lake Land College, Moraine Valley continued their run at the Dan Hull Memorial Classic with a tough 74-56 loss.

Both teams struggled to score in the first quarter, but Lake Land still managed to lead 13-7. The Cyclones finally got their offense going, scoring 20 points in the second quarter, still trailing 32-27. They were able to get ahead briefly in the third, but the Lakers responded with back-to-back threes after a Cyclone turnover. After getting back to within four, foul trouble by Bashirah Muhammad and Taniyah Henry and a barrage of three-pointers by the Lakers kept the Cyclones down in the fourth quarter.

Kirsten Kamholz continued to take control of the offense for the third straight game with 14 points. Reagan Cameron and Kelsey Kelley each added nine points with Kelley tacking on five rebounds. Henry had a season high eight assists and five rebounds.
