Cyclone streak stunted

The Cyclones nine-game win streak was halted tonight after a tough 76-61 loss to Rock Valley College. Despite the defeat, Moraine Valley is headed into the second half of the season with a 10-4 overall record.

This was the second consecutive night the Cyclones had a game after a big victory Dec. 19. They got off to a slow start, seeing a 27-15 deficit after the first quarter, never holding a lead after that. With the top two scorers – Kirsten Kamholz and Chelsea Cross – on the bench due to early foul trouble, the Cyclones still found a way to climb back within two points in the fourth quarter. Cross fouled out with five minutes left in the game, further hurting her team's chance to gain a lead and taking the loss.

Kamholz still led offense with 16 points and added nine rebounds and four steals. Erin Greenfield finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Kaeli Ford and Marty Reeves each chipped in 10 points. Nicole Poole had a team high 11 rebounds.
