Officially crowned the champs

Even with a handful of games to go, the Cyclones have already ticked off one accomplishment—a conference crown.

Moraine Valley earned its 10th Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference championship, thanks to a 12-0 record, in an 83-62 win over the Morton College Panthers. Because the Cyclones have long shots and speed, the Panthers employed some physical play to try and stop the champs. That couldn't break up this team that ended the first quarter with an 18-9 advantage. A continued slow and methodical game strategy kept the Cyclones in a double-digit lead the rest of the game.

Hennessey Handy led the effort with 18 points, eight assists and four steals. Ashley Hunter tossed in 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Julia Ruzevich also had 17 points but grabbed 14 rebounds. Kate Ruzevich had 12 points to accompany 18 rebounds while Elizabeth Coffey had a team high five blocks.
