In their split with Prairie State College, the Cyclones scored 34 runs.
GAME ONE
Both teams were hitting fiends, but the Cyclones were unable to get over the hump and score in the final innings for a 12-8 loss.
Whenever the Cyclones took a lead, the Pioneers would bounce back. It wasn't until the bottom of the fifth where Prairie State took the lead and the Cyclones couldn't answer with additional runs.
Brialynn Mica (1-for-4, RBI) tied the game in the fifth inning with a grounder to centerfield allowing Millie Redican (2-for-4, 2B) to score. Mica scored the tying run on a fielding error in that same at-bat. However, three quick outs in the next two innings and big hits from the Pioneers sealed the Cyclones' fate.
Also scoring RBIs this game were Annabelle Rush (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs), Estelle Loth (1-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs) and Stephanie Lohman (2-for-4, 2B, 2 RBIs).
GAME TWO
In this high-scoring matchup, the Cyclones outhit the Pioneers, winning 26-22.
After the Pioneers scored 11 runs in their first at-bat, the Cyclones were down until the fourth inning when they scored nine to go ahead 19-11. After that, the Pioneers attempted to comeback and got close in the bottom of the seventh, but the Cyclones had amassed enough runs to avoid the sweep.
The big hitter of this game was Keira Clancy who had a double, homerun and went 4-for-6 at the plate with 5 RBIs. Mica (3-for-6, RBI) and Rush (3-for-7, 3 RBIs) each collected a triple while Madelynn Larmon (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Lohman (6-for-6, 3 RBIs) and Loth (3-for-5, 2 RBIs) each had doubles.
