Cyclones fall short on Sophomore Day

On Sophomore Day, the Cyclones came up short in their battle with the College of DuPage Chaparrals.

GAME ONE
Millie Redican (1-for-4, 2 RBIs) was the big runs-getter again this game with another homerun, this time scoring two runs (Brialynn Mica singled) in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Cyclones scored their first run in the first after Mica (2-for-3) and Annabelle Rush (3-for-4) singled and Mica scored on a passed ball.

The Cyclones scored their final run in the fourth inning after Madelynn Larmon walked and Stephanie Lohman hit a grounder but got on from a fielding error that scored the run. Otherwise, it was the Chaparrals day at the plate as they dealt the Cyclones a 16-4 loss.

In between games, the Cyclones recognized the four sophomores and all their contributions over the last two years – Emma Hansen, Stephanie Lohman, Brialynn Mica and Marissa Walsh.

GAME TWO
Even with seven hits, the Cyclones were unable to match the Chaparrals offense, losing the effort 14-3.

The Cyclones loaded the bases in their first at-bat thanks to three consecutive walks. Larmon (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) scored one run with a single to left field. The third inning saw Estelle Loth (1-for-2) single and get to second on a fielding error. Keira Clancy (1-for-4) singled to move Loth to third before Larmon hit an RBI single. Lohman grounded out but was able to advance Clancy across home for the final run of the game.
