Big hits not enough in loss to Bulldogs

Big hits not enough in loss to Bulldogs

Despite a big-hitting first game, the Cyclones were unable to take down South Suburban College.

GAME ONE
Both teams put up double-digit hits this game, with the Cyclones falling short in the 15-10 loss.

With two big innings, the Cyclones were ahead 9-4 until fielding errors and a string of hits allowed the Bulldogs to take the lead. In the third inning, the Cyclones tied the score 3-3 after Stephanie Lohman (2-for-3, RBI), Millie Redican (2-for-4, 2 RBIs), Brialynn Mica (3-for-4), Emma Hansen (1-for-5) and Estelle Loth (2-for-3, 3 RBIs) singled. Although the Bulldogs bounced back to retake the lead in the next inning, the Cyclones put up six more runs in the fifth inning to get ahead.

Mica singled before Annabelle Rush (2-for-4, RBI) drove her home with a double to centerfield. Loth then got Rush across home plate with a single to center. Marissa Walsh and Madelynn Larmon (1-for-3, RBI) walked before Redican hit a single to score them both. A fielding error on a hit from Mica scored the ninth run for the Cyclones before the inning was over. Larmon earned the final RBI in the sixth inning with an RBI single.

GAME TWO
Redican (1-for-1, RBI) scored the lone run in the third inning off a long homerun. Other than that, the Cyclones had two other hits this game – from Mica (1-for-2) and Keira Clancy (1-for-2) in the 9-1 loss.
