The Cyclones put up some big runs in their second game of a doubleheader with Prairie State College but came up short for two losses.
GAME ONE
The Cyclones could only muster one run in this game, in a first at-bat in-the-park homerun to right field from Annabelle Rush (1-for-3). Although the Cyclones did have a handful of base runners from walks and being hit by pitches, Estelle Loth (1-for-2) and Karla Ayala (1-for-1) were the only two to collect any hits in the 11-1 loss.
GAME TWO
The Cyclone bats came alive in this second game, however, so did the Pioneer bats.
Moraine Valley started their offense with a five-run first inning. Emma Hansen (1-for-4) came up with a walk before Rush (1-for-4) reached first on a hard grounder that the shortstop flubbed. Loth (4-for-5, 3 RBIs) came up to drive in the first run with a shot to center field. Keira Clancy (1-for-4, RBI) hit a hard grounder and reached on a fielding error, also scoring Rush. Madelynn Larmon (3-for-5, 2 RBIs) hit a two-run double before Ayala walked. Finally, Millie Redican (2-for-4, 2B, 4 RBIs) hit an RBI single to end the inning. The Pioneers countered with three runs and then led 7-5 in the second inning. The Cyclones scored in every inning after that, but allowed an eight-run fifth for the Pioneers, which led to the 21-16 loss.
Stephanie Lohman had a big day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two doubles, one triple and 4 RBIs. Anastazie Thoma also had an RBI.
