Good day for the Cyclones

Good day for the Cyclones

It was a good day for the Cyclones as they swept their doubleheader.

GAME ONE
The first game with the Henry Ford College Hawks saw all the runs scored in the first three innings before offense for both teams was shut down.

The Hawks were up to bat first, scoring three runs. The Cyclones quickly countered in the bottom of the inning to go up 4-3. Brialynn Mica walked and scored after Emma Hansen (1-for-3) singled, and the Hawks had some fielding errors. Brooklynn Sedlak (2-for-3) hit a hard grounder to score Hansen. Estelle Loth (2-for-3) hit a single, and Marissa Walsh (1-for-3) hit an RBI single to tie the game before Stephanie Lohman (1-for-3) singled to load the bases. Walsh scored on a fielding error after Annabelle Rush reached first on the same error to take a 4-3 lead.

The Cyclones scored their final run in the second inning after Sedlak singled in Hansen. Although the Hawks scored in their next at-bat, the Cyclones were able to get some quick outs the rest of the game for the 5-4 victory.

Alexandra Wolcott was one of two pitchers this game. She threw four innings and allowed zero runs.

GAME TWO
The Cyclones had less hits than the St. Charles Community College Cougars in the nightcap but still came out ahead 4-1.

After the Cougars scored their lone run in the second, the Cyclones countered with two and doubled their run count in the sixth. Walsh (1-for-3) singled and Rush (1-for-3) hit a grounder, reaching first on a fielding error. Keira Clancy (1-for-2) also reached base on an error, which also scored Walsh. While Clancy was then caught trying to steal second, Rush stole home to go up 2-1.

More Cougars' errors helped the cause to get two Cyclones runners on base in the sixth before Clancy hit an RBI single. Lohman hit a sac fly to center field, scoring Rush.

Sedlak took control on the mound, striking out seven and allowing just one run in this victory.
